March 31st @ Spectators - Doubles League Championships
So here's an interesting story. -5 in overall cup differential gets you the 2 seed? Guess that'll teach everyone to play every week in the next league! In the final three of the tournament ended up being the top 3 seeded teams: No Chance, Cheech and Pong, and David and Goliath. In the end PeeWee and Chris surprised everyone by pulling off an amazing upset, taking 1st place against No Chance.
March 29th @ Coaches - Random Partners
After the pairings were made it seemed early favorites were Edan and Eric, but after the first couple rounds Jordan/Beth, Jeremy/Chris, and Glaser/Lou all were making solid claims for the tournament. In the finals it was Edan and Eric who faced David and Lou, and Lou pulled off his first SWBP win.
March 25th @ Coaches - World Series of Beer Pong VII Satellite
24 teams from the tri-city region (ABQ, Clovis, El Paso) showed up at Coaches to compete for this year’s first SWBP World Series of Beer Pong VII satellite tournament. Clovis showed up with three teams, including the blast from the past Andy Mazz and CO, who have dropped eHarmony and now go under the team name Encore. Not sure what...
March 24th @ Spectators - Doubles League
The final week of the AABP league pool play was a great night for upsets and rallying. Victorious Secret pulled off 4-0 after last week's 0-4. In the finals were the unexpected teams Bounce and Sink vs. Dos Sexies. Jack was at the top of his game, and with Manny's help easily defeated Dos Sexies for the win.
March 22nd @ Coaches - Doubles
Glaser may have everyone fooled with his #1 spot on ThePongList, but he proved himself a full fledged luckbox in tonight's finals. I don't think I've ever seen that many miss makes in two back-to-back games! It was definitely a spectacle watching the boys take down Manny and the indefatigable PeeWee twice for the double-dip. Congrats Sonny for actually making a cup you were aiming for!
March 17th @ Spectators - Doubles League
March 15th @ Coaches - Singles
I remember when those 10/12 games were few and far between, something to be talked about. Now it happens every four games! Most notable of the night was probably Andy T., who went on a sick run taking down Clawless and Gabe before finally losing to Glaser. Corey had been shooting lights out the entire night, until the finals against Glaser. It may have been Gabe's shit talking, but he struggled, allowing David to take the win.
March 10th @ Spectators - Doubles League
Four weeks into the league and that top group is getting rough. As some have pointed out this is a great way to prepare for BoW because you're playing against tough teams every single game, you don't get any soft games. Edan and Corey finally put in a bad night, struggling with the 1-cup. No Chance took their second league title in a row.
March 8th @ Coaches - Doubles
With theponglist so young, every game and every tournament is incredibly important. Tonight was a night of solid gameplay and intense battles, especially at the finals. Beth and PeeWee teamed up and laid waste to the competition. In the semis they faced No Chance, and it seems Beth is Jeremy and Gabe's kryptonite lately. Afterward they pulled off the unimaginable by double-dipping 10 Inches Soft. I don't think Beth has much left to prove.
March 3rd @ Spectators - Doubles League
22 teams made it out to week 3 of the league, so it seems the hiatus hasn't hurt us at all, only made us stronger! Four teams emerged undefeated after prelims, making the bracket of the night an extremely tough one. No Chance barely made it into the top 6, but managed to battle their way through the bracket to emerge victorious against Manny and David G.
March 1st @ Coaches - 2v2 Multi Partner
For our first multi-partner tournament in months, all kinds of power teams could be found. People were putting together lists of favorites, and it was a tough lineup. Not so tough for Beth and Eric, who handed No Chance their first loss for the night. In the end Edan sat the finals out, as his partners played to determine 1st and 2nd. Congrats to PeeWee for taking Corey down.
