SWBP IV Recap
I’m upset with you Albuquerque. We had our first drop in numbers since we started running tournaments at Coaches, which means a lot of you have been breaking the first two rules of SWBP. Rule 1: talk about SWBP. Rule 2: TALK ABOUT SWBP! Seriously guy, we can only keep this going strong with your help, so spread the word!
Fortunately, the excitement level was at an all-time high, regardless of the reduced turnout. Several extremely close games coupled with some high-performing wildcard teams (not to mention the high number of all-girl teams who made an appearance) made it a fun night for all in attendance.
The team most overlooked in the early rounds was probably the inaptly named Dees Nuts. These baby boomers didn’t stand a chance, or so we thought. After losing their first game, the old-timers tore up the competition in the loser’s bracket. Game after game the spectators thought it would be their last, only to be blown away when they sunk the last cup. They sent such notable teams as G-Squad, Donkey Punch (formerly Biggle My Jalls), and Judas packing. When Nuts made it to the semis nobody was as excited as yours truly (you have no idea how much I wanted them to win).
Making themselves heard early on was all-girl team Boobs McGees. Their shit talking was so pervasive it even made this kitten blush. Their mouths, however, were no match for the Nuts crazy run.
Huff of In & Around the Cup always finds himself just short of the finals no matter who he plays with or where he plays, but he was sure that this was finally the night. Going undefeated in the winner’s bracket they found themselves up against the force that is SWBP’s Boats and Hoes. Though they took an early lead against Boats, their sudden inability to close found them up against Dees Nuts in the losers finals.
Sadly, the Nuts’ Cinderella story came to an end at the hands of In & Around the Cup. This put Boats and Hoes taking a shot at their second SWBP win against Cup trying to finally take home a win outside of Huff’s house. Sadly, it was once again just not Huff’s night. Boats and Hoes took their second win in as many attempts. The bracket is available at http://www.challonge.com/SWBP_4.
I hope to see many of you (as well as many of your friends) next month at SWBP V.
Until then,
-Clawless
