September 2nd @ Twin Peaks - Singles
Another big night for singles happened at Twin Peaks, with 37 players turning out. The venue seems to be a success, and we're looking forward to some good times there. David D. was hard at work trying to prove himself, only to bubble against his DnA cohort Holbrook. In the end Clawless again went undefeated, and took the first 3-peat in SWBP history.

Coaches is the place to play beer pong in Albuquerque! 43 players came out for the singles tournament, making for a long night of pong. Though the early rounds took a while to get through, eventually everyone got their games in. Clawless took his second win of the week, and has high hopes to win all three nights.

August 30th @ Fox & Hound - Singles
We ran two back to back singles tournaments at Fox. In the first it looked as if Chris G's newfound talent would take him against Jack for a new winner. However, Chris fell just short to the eventual winner Gabe. Clawless took the second tournament, double-dipping Gabe in the process.

August 27th @ Twin Peaks - Doubles
Our first night at Twin Peaks turned out surprisingly well, with 19 teams making it out, including quite a few brand new players. The girls of BSin' It made another deep run, until running into Read About It, who finally got their game together. Ultimately though, it was Put Some Beer In That Cup who took the win.

24 teams made it out to Coaches, which has seemingly become the most popular pong spot in town over the past few weeks. The all-girl team of Shannon and Beth were on fire, making it to the winners bracket finals before losing their first game. In the end, though, it was the unoriginal Sean & Corey who took the W (come up with a real name guys).

August 17th @ Coaches - Random Partner
Though four of ABQ's most frequent players made the trip to El Paso to compete in the Borderland Classic, Coaches exploded with 48 players ready to compete in the random partners tournament. Pee Wee looked to continue his run of wins, and took the W with partner Travis against Kyle and Guy Fitzgerald.

I have to say that tonight has made me realize just how good the ABQ pong scene is getting. Even after ensuring the top 7 players couldn't play together, I just kept thinking "that's a good team" as I looked down the random partner assignments. In the end Pee Wee and Ted took the double dip against Brent and Chris, in spite of Chris's clutch shooting.

The team mix ups continued into Tuesday. AJ and Beth appeared unstoppable until they ran into Ted and John. After falling into the losers bracket, they easily worked through the opposition until they faced the boys again in the finals. Unfortunately, AJ dropped the ball (not in a good way) in the finals, not hitting a single cup. Congrats to John on his first win.

August 9th @ Fox & Hound - Doubles
16 teams made for a full bracket at Fox. There was a lot of shuffling among the big teams, guaranteeing some interesting games. AJ teamed with roommate Kyle and ended up taking the win against the powerhouse team of Gabe and Ted in the finals.

August 3rd @ Coaches - Singles
Another singles tournament, another 64-bracket. What is going on in this town? 37 players turned out to compete at Coaches, and in the end Ted and Gabe faced off. Though Ted had been undefeated, double-dipping was in fashion this week, and Gabe took the W.

August 2nd @ Fox & Hound - Singles
An unexpectedly high turnout resulted in 40 players competing in SWBP's very first 64-bracket tournament. Clawless lost his first game to up and coming female player Ryan, and had to battle his way through the losers bracket before facing the undefeated Smokey Joe in the finals. A successful double-dip later and he was declared the winner.

July 27th @ Coaches - Doubles
Team mix ups abound. Juan Dubois wanted to make a real attempt at a win, and so teamed up with Ted "dbag" Wallace. Unfortunately they came up short against 10 Inches Soft. Sibiling rivalry erupted in the finals, as 10 Inches' Sonny faced his lil' bro Victor playing with Kyle in the last minute team Shots on Shots. Once again, 10 Inches fell just short of a win, while Victor (in his second SWBP tournament) took it down.

Even though most of us were dead after the long weekend at Best of the West, we still turned out to play at Fox Monday. In the end it was Burque Bombers who faced off against Fade the Luck, in an extremely close finals match. At one point the Bombers had to run 3 to take the game into OT, and they finally won by going 1-2 in OT. Congrats boys, you deserved it.
